You are met upon arrival and escorted to your hotel | | Day 2 | Delhi | Delhi Sightseeing:Embark on your tour of Old and New Delhi. Visit Old Delhi covering the Red Fort, Raj Ghat, Ashoka Pillar and the mile-long Chandni Chowk bazaar. In the afternoon tour New Delhi as you drive along Rajpath to view the Parliament House, the President's House and India Gate. Visit the Humayun's Tomb, Qutab Minar and Birla Temple. (B) | | Day 3 | Ranthambhore | Delhi/Ranthambhore:Depart by train to Ranthambhore, the remains of a thousand year old fortress. Today leopards and tigers prowl the ruins. This afternoon enjoy your first game drive. (B) | | Day 4 | Ranthambhore | Ranthambhore Game Reserve:Ranthambhore is one of the few preserves where the nocturnal camera-shy tigers may be seen in daylight. Hunted almost to extinction by the local royalty and their British overlords, the population of the Bengal tiger is slowly increasing, thanks to the efforts of "Project Tiger" and the World Wildlfe Fund. You'll enjoy thrilling game drives in the morning and evening to scour the jungle for wildlife. (B) | | Day 5 | Jaipur | Ranthambhore / Jaipur:After a morning game drive, leave for the "pink city" of Jaipur, where the old city is surrounded by a massive wall pierced by magnificent gateways. Your tour of Jaipur takes you to Hawa Mahal or "Palace of Winds," continues to City Palace with its latticed balconies, tiny windows, cupolas, courtyards and arched entrances, and concludes with a visit to the ancient observatory. (B) | | Day 6 | Jaipur | Amber Fort Excursion:Today you are transported back in time, riding royally atop elegantly draped and painted elephants up to the mountain fortress of Amber. Enjoy a superb example of Rajput architecture, with the fortress' complex of palaces, temples and ornate apartments. The afternoon is at leisure. (B) | | Day 7 | Agra | Jaipur / Agra:Drive this morning to Agra, en route visiting the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri. In Agra, visit the Agra Fort and enjoy the magnificent Taj Mahal in the warm glow of sunset. (B) | | Day 8 | Depart Delhi | Agra / Delhi / Depart:Drive to Delhi's International airport for your flight back home. (B) |
